Tennessee Orange heritage
Akros Athletic continues its exploration of collegiate hockey identity with a bold new University of Tennessee jersey concept, blending deep tradition with modern performance design. Rooted in the unmistakable energy of Tennessee Orange, the concept reimagines how Volunteer pride could take shape on the ice while honoring the visual history that defines the program and its fan base.
At the center of the design is a vintage-inspired Tennessee script crest, delivering a timeless look that feels equally at home in Knoxville’s storied athletic tradition and today’s fast-paced hockey environment. Supporting details throughout the jersey reinforce that connection to place and pride, including a custom interior collar featuring “Tennessee Orange,” a state outline chest mark, and Tri-Star shoulder elements that pay tribute to one of the most recognizable symbols in Tennessee culture.
Color blocking and striping were carefully balanced to create a strong on-ice presence without overwhelming the classic identity. Orange and white accents cut cleanly across a charcoal base, producing contrast, visibility, and a modern edge while remaining unmistakably Tennessee. The result is a concept that feels authentic to the Volunteers brand yet forward-thinking in execution.
As part of Akros Athletic’s ongoing digital concept series, this design highlights how thoughtful storytelling, regional symbolism, and performance-driven construction can come together to shape the future of collegiate hockey aesthetics. It’s not just about imagining a new uniform. It’s about visualizing how tradition evolves when it meets innovation on the ice.
